Welcome to Ladakh Camp

Ladakh lies at the northern extreme of Indian Subcontinent, in the state of Jammu and Kashmir. In terms of birding, as well as culture, Ladakh offers a stark contrast to the rest of the country.

Ladakh is the land of high mountain passes, and beautiful barren landscapes surrounded by rugged mountain ranges and dotted with picturesque lakes. It is a land with a rich Tibetan history that influences every aspect of its culture even today, from the beautiful Buddhist monasteries and gompas, to the mouthwatering Tibetan food.

You can explore Ladakh landscape and culture of Ladakh with general sightseeing tours, or participate short treks and excursions. We also offer photo tours of the highly photogenic region so you can create your own photographic memories of Ladakh and all it has to offer.

As conservation-oriented operators with expert local guides, we offer you customized and fixed travel plans related to a wide variety of tours. You can explore Ladakh landscape and culture of Ladakh with general sightseeing tours, or participate short treks and excursions. We also offer photo tours of the highly photogenic region so you can create your own photographic memories of Ladakh and all it has to offer. During spring and summer, however, we see peak bird activity with a number of local breeding specialities. Dachigam National Park is a must for birdwatchers.

The park lists more than 150 bird species, many of which breed here. Among the more notable are Besra, Northern Goshawk, Himalayan and Bearded Vultures, Himalayan Monal, and Tawny Owl, to name a few. Also, mammals like Hangul, Jackal, Langur, Leopard and Yellow-throated Martens are common.

Ladakh lies in the rain shadow of Himalayas on the Tibetan Plateau, more than 300m above sea level. As you wander into Leh, the capital of Ladakh, expect to see some of the unique species here like Eurasian Magpie. Along the stream in winter look for Solitary Snipe and White-throated Dipper. Other birds found in this region are Red-billed Chough, Robin and Brown Accentors, and Red-fronted Serin.

What Our Guests Have To Say

  • Personalized and Memorable Tour

Asian Adventures did a wonderful job of organizing our Ladakh Tour, certainly a personalized and memorable tour. Mohit and his team were always available and responsive to our needs, both during the booking process and during the tour. The guides were knowledgeable and enthusiastic and our driver went above and beyond in every way.  Our tour was mainly to sight the snow leopard and our driver was available to us both for the actual sightseeing and during leisure time to drive to spots where the news of sightings was being reported. The support and knowledge of the drivers & guide played a huge part in making our trip truly memorable, as we were able to see and experience so much more than just the main tourist attractions. We have done many wildlife tours over the years and this was by far our favorite and also the easiest, as everything flowed seamlessly from day to day. We will be back for more. –

  • Fantastic Sightings

We just returned from several weeks in India & Nepal with Asian Adventures, who did an outstanding job! After amending our itineraries to better suit our needs, we were well taken care of throughout the visit.  I would definitely use them again and recommend them for anyone traveling to the North and North east India, we visited Leh & Ladakh region and in the North-east regions of India we visited Arunachal up to the Bhutan boarder and Assam. In Nepal, out tour covered Chitwan and Pokhra in Nepal. Amazing wild life sightings of the Snow leopard, one horned Rhinos, Asiatic Elephants and some great birding too.

    Thank you, Team

Firstly I must thank you for the fantastic organizing of the tour with all the mess up of Corbett you made it happen, Interestingly I have no complains to make of it.

I and my brother would love to thank you for all the fine tuning of the tour, which eventually was great, as we able to give our dad who has been an inspiration to me especially with my interest in wildlife. My brother too is an enthusiast and enjoyed the whole tour with great relish.

Iqbal, I have known Mohit and you for over a decade and in your own words “impeccable” is the word most appropriate. As always I and our company will continue to work with you.

“WOW” Ladakh was great and will return again. It’s such an enormous place and would need months to explore. As you’d know it’s all about looking into a new product to promote. If things work out over here I may need your assistance in the future.

Pavan was excellent and was cordial and punctual, which fulfilled all our needs.

My meeting with Deepak was not the first but the previous meeting was brief at this time. I personally think that he is a person with great knowledge and a birder to reckon with. I think he is a great resource to Asian adventures and will fulfill all your future needs as a bird guide.
