The land of Ladakh is known for its rich culture, history, and amazing cuisine. The wildlife here is also stunning, and the jewel in this crown is the rare and elusive Snow Leopard. One of the most mysterious animals of the world, this cat is a holy grail for wildlifers and photographers. This tour not only gives you the best possible views of the Snow Leopard, as well as the other birds and animals that share its rugged mountain home but also gives you the opportunity to learn more about the culture and history of Ladakh.

Arrive in Leh. You will be met and transferred to the hotel. Spend the rest of the day acclimatizing to the environment.

Today, you will have another day to rest and acclimatize, as well as possibly doing a little light sightseeing in Leh.

This is where the main part of your adventure starts. Zingchan is the entry point to the Rumbak Valley, the home of the Snow Leopard. The bleak landscape may look incapable of supporting life but look closer and you will be proven wrong. Even here, there are animals and birds uniquely evolved to handle life in a region like this, not to mention many people whose cultures and traditions have been shaped in some way or the other by the harshness of this land.

Continue on your quest for the mysterious Snow Leopard. Follow in this predator’s footsteps as you explore the area on foot with your amazing guide. But part of attaining a goal is the journey you take to get there. Don’t miss out on the enthralling insights into local folklore, learning about customs and traditions. In addition, there’s always some amazing birdwatching to be done.

Today we will travel from Rumbak to Uley. The landscape around Uley looks bleak and devoid of life at first glance. But this is so far from the truth! Birds, mammals, and more are plenty in this place, many of them found nowhere else in India. If time permits, we will do some light exploration of the landscape in and around Uley looking for birds, mammals, and more.

Today, we have the full day to explore all that Uley has to offer. Not only is Uley home to the elusive Snow Leopard, but also a variety of other mammals including Blue Sheep, Urial, Tibetan Wolf, and more, as well as a plethora of bird species such as Bearded Vulture, Chukar Partridge, Snow Pigeon, Brown and Rock Accentors, Red-fronted Serin, and more.

Today we bid farewell to Uley and head to the village of Hemis Shukpachan. This little village is a delight for photographers. Not only is it home to wildlife like Snow Leopard, Urial, Marmot, Blue Sheep and a variety of birds, but it is also a great place to dive deep into local Ladakhi culture and experience it in a wholesome manner.

We have the whole day today to experience the rich wildlife and even richer culture of Hemis Shukpachan.

Sadly, all journeys come to an end. Today, we bid adieu to Hemis Shukpachan today and head back to Leh, signaling the end of this amazing journey.
