Synopsis

Often, the journey is as enriching as the destination, and it allows one to appreciate the destination a lot more.

This tour takes you on a gradual climb from the low-lying areas of North India, up the Himalayas, to the Tibetan Plateau.

Not only will you get to see and stay in some beautiful places, but you can also observe and appreciate how the natural world and human life adapts to increases in altitude as you journey towards Ladakh. The gradual climb also allows you to acclimatize to Ladakh’s rarefied air so you can make the most of your getaway.

High Mountain Passes: Baralacha Pass (4830m), Lachung La (5019m), Tanglang La (5360m), Khardung La (5606m). This jeep safari will cross high altitude passes over 17000 ft above sea level. Travelers need to be physically and mentally prepared for this adventure trip. A recommendation from the doctor is preferred stating good health for this trip.

This tour can be customized.
The Manali-Leh road is open only for 4-5 months, between June and October, every year before the snows cover it up or wash away the road. This overland route had become an increasingly popular way to go to Leh. The advantage of the road route is that one sees an amazing panorama of nature’s beauty and also gets gradually acclimatized to breathing in the high altitude atmosphere, which is a pre-requisite to staying at Leh. An unforgettable experience as the road traverses a variety of landscapes and one can hardly put the camera away. Along the way nature impresses with awesome mountain passes of 17-18,000 ft., long stretches of flat, cold desert without a trace of vegetation, amazing natural rock formations and deep gorges of the rivers Beas, Chandra, Bhaga and finally Indus. From the snow-clad mountains, when the snows melt, one sees beautiful waterfalls and gurgling crystal clear mountain streams. Along the streams and rivers are human habitations with pockets of rich cultivated green fields, fruit orchards and wild exotic plants used for preparing herbal medications.
